Learn more about Chicago's urban history and architecture at Chicago Architecture Center.

Chicago Architecture Center is a truly unique stop for anyone who's interested in learning more about Chicago's urban history and architecture. Locals say the gift shop alone is worth a visit, as it's filled with books, Chicago artwork, decor inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and other architects, and themed lego sets for kids.

In addition to the gift shop, the Center also runs a series of walking tours and river cruises that showcase the city's history and built environment. Interested in Chicago's history as a major transportation hub? Sign up for the Union Station walking tour, which will take you behind the scenes at this iconic train station. Want to know more about the skyscrapers that line Chicago's riverfront? Another tour will take you into a series of lavish Art Deco lobbies within these legendary skyscrapers and explain how the 1920s economy resulted in a local building boom. The Center offers more than a dozen different tours, so be sure to check the website for a full schedule.
