Heading off on a Swiss ski vacation might not be possible right now, but Chalet brings the mountain vibes right here to Chicago’s Near North Side. True to its name, the new pub is modeled after a Swiss ski chalet, right down to the wood-paneled bar and murals of snowy peaks.

Warm up with a signature cocktail such as the Apres-tini, a mix of Sneaky Fox Vodka and Kahlua with Intelligentsia espresso, Averna, and Licor 43. You can also sip on a Smoky Mountain Marg infused with Mezcal Union Uno, agave, blood orange, lime, and a surprising dash of soy, plus tajin around the rim. Chalet also boasts carefully curated lists of wine and beer. Order a few small plates to share at the table with your cocktails. The salmon tartare comes with sesame unagi sauce for dipping while the beef skewers are dressed in a horseradish crema. Duck confit poutine, wagyu meatballs, and truffle frites are a few of the other upscale American bites on the menu. Any of them are a perfect prelude to larger plates like the Chalet smash burger or the honey-braised short ribs—but feel free to stick with tapas and libations if you’re just here for happy hour!
